The Design
The CSL was introduced as a lightweight homologation special to make the car eligible for European Touring Car Championship. A mix of aluminum body panels, lightened steel, and removed luxury features shaved nearly 450 pounds off of the standard CS. The CSL was fitted initially with a carbureted 3.0L I6, then switched to fuel injection one year later. The final 110 versions were fitted with a 3.2L along with the famed aero kit that would eventually give it its ‘Batmobie’ nickname.
